Skip Morris, author of 21 books on fly fishing and tying, including the established standard beginning fly tier’s volume Fly Tying Made Clear and Simple, will be our speaker at our meeting on Oct. 17, 2023. His presentation covers dry flies of all kinds and floating to half-floating emerger-flies. Beginners and seasoned fly fishers alike will find plenty of interest here: when to and when not to fish an attractor (along with a look at some excellent attractor dry flies), casts for achieving a drag-free fly drift, how to sink tippet to turn it almost invisible, dry flies on creeks vs. dry flies on rivers, when to twitch a dry fly, a close look at various dry-fly designs and how each is designed to be fished, considerations for choosing the right fly to imitate various insects, and so on, and so on.. Skip will also demonstrate some fly tying of his favorite patterns.
The doors (zoom or in-person) will open at 6:30pm. The meeting will start at 7:00pm and the evening’s program will promptly start at 7:15pm. Any unfinished club business will be concluded after the presentation.
