Each year, the NW Youth Conservation and Fly Fishing Academy ( https://nwycffa.com/ ) conducts a one week camp for youths ages 12 to 16 to give them the equipment, knowledge and field training to create a strong foundation, for a lifetime of successful fly fishing and fisheries conservation. This year the camp goes from June 22-29, 2024 at the Panhandle Lake 4-H Camp, 370 W Panhandle Lake Rd, Shelton, WA 98584.
The Academy is reaching out to the members of the SSFF for volunteers to help conduct various aspects of the training. In particular the following skills and assistance are needed at the following dates and times:
Sunday June 23 2:30-4:10 PM 1 Person – Help with Knot Tying (Perfection Loop, Double Surgeon, Improved Clinch Knot)
Monday June 24 10-11:40 AM 1 Person – Help with Knot Tying (Perfection Loop, Double Surgeon, Improved Clinch Knot)
Tuesday June 25 7:20-9:00 AM 1 Person – Help with Fly Tying for Beginners
Thursday June 27 7:15-8:45 PM 2 people – Help with Fly Tying Elk Hair Caddis and 1 person to help with tying Adams on a Post.
Friday June 28 12:30-3:45 PM 1 person to help students in boat fishing (or bring your own)
Friday June 28 4:00-5:30 PM 1 person – Help with Fly Tying Damsel Nymph and 1 person to help tying Muddle Minnow
