Mentors needed for our new Fly Fishing Students!

March 4, 2025

The club’s annual Introduction to Fly Fishing Class is once again completely full. There are 30 students learning about gear, insects, habitat, and the history of our beloved sport. They could use help with their casting on upcoming Saturdays. Even more, they will need someone to lead them on their first journey on the water. Whether it is throwing a line from the gravelly bank of the Deschutes in Pioneer Park, casting from the launch at one of a dozen local lakes, or a short road trip to a favorite river or stream. Maybe you have room in your boat to take someone along on a good weather day.

I know I would never have continued without the help of several club members that helped me in my early stages and continue to teach me new techniques to make me more successful. We are reaching out to our existing members to please consider volunteering some time to help one of these students. Contact any of the board members and we can connect you with the students that are interested in additional help as the class winds down and they are ready to hit the water!
