The Pat Herdt Education Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the education of fly fishers, particularly focusing on youth education and the spread of knowledge about fisheries resources and conservation. This award celebrates both singular contributions and sustained efforts that have significantly advanced the educational mission of Fly Fishers International.
Washington Council of the FFI awarded Kevin Angevine the 2025 Pat Herdt Education Award. Kevin contributes countless hours helping new students in the classroom and on the water. He has taught fly-tying in a local middle school instructing over 90 students in one year alone. He is always present and contributes greatly to the SSFF Introduction to Fly Fishing, Casting, and Fly Tying classes. When he’s not in the classroom he is on the water with new fishers teaching them the finer points of equipment set-up, casting, and hooking and landing fish in our nearby lakes and streams. He’s a very social fisher, mostly with new students. In the SSFF Kevin Angevine is our poster child for education. We’re extremely proud that FFI recognized Kevin for all his education contributions.
