Mason County – rainbow trout, coastal cutthroat trout, largemouth bass
Meet: Shipwreck Café, Madrona Beach Road at Mud Bay Road at 8:00 am
This month’s outing will be to Nahwatzel Lake for some fall rainbows. It is known to have some big trout in it. I have only fished this lake during the spring. I am not sure what flies and techniques work best in the fall but expect there are several club members that have some suggestions. We will address this at the monthly meeting on October 17.
There is limited fishing access at the launch area. Boats or float tubes are required for decent fishing.
Recent plants included 3,085 rainbow averaging 1 lb. on Sept. 22 and 25.
Flies: wooly buggers, leeches, chironomids.
Directions: 101 to Shelton. Then take the W. Shelton-Matlock Rd. toward Matlock. Launch is on right at about 11 Miles.
